Luke 16:10 - He who is faithful in a very little [thing] is faithful also in much, and he who is dishonest and unjust in a very little [thing] is dishonest and unjust also in much. (AMP)
We all tend to focus on the big things in life, big prayers, big changes, and big answers. We want God to show up in power, to heal, provide, open doors, and move mountains, and he does! The bible reminds us of something simple and important: be faithful in the little things.
The truth is, most of life isn’t made up of huge, dramatic moments. It’s made up of daily choices, quiet moments, and simple decisions. That’s where our faith gets real, when no one’s watching and it doesn’t feel like it matters all that much.
Sometimes we say, “God, I’ll go anywhere, do anything—just tell me what You want me to do with my life.” We’re ready for the big call, but what if his answer is: “Start by getting up 30 minutes earlier to spend time with me”?
It might feel small, maybe even too small, but that’s precisely the point. God often starts with something simple because he’s teaching us to walk with him one step at a time. He wants to know: Will you show up? Will you obey when it’s quiet? Will you be faithful when it’s not flashy?
Faithfulness isn’t measured by what we say we’ll do someday. It’s shown in what we actually do today.
So if God puts something on your heart, even if it seems like no big deal, lean in and follow through. Do it with all your heart, you never know what it might lead to.
1 John 4:7-8 - Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. He who does not love does not know God, for God is love. NKJV
And to give one example, scripture tells us to walk in love toward one another. Not just on the good days. Not just when people are easy to love, but in the messy, everyday moments. That’s a “little” thing, too, but it matters deeply to God. He sees it, honors it, and is working through it.
The question is, are we being faithful in those small things he asks us to do? It’s easy to brush off one day and think, “It’s not a big deal,” but it is. God is watching, not to catch us doing something wrong, but to see if we’ll be faithful with what he’s already given us.
He’s looking for doers of the word. People who won’t just hear it and nod along, but actually live it out in the little things. When we do, he promised to give us more.
So today, I encourage you to take a look at your life. What has God already asked you to do? Maybe it’s spending time with him in prayer, or perhaps it’s encouraging someone. Maybe it’s choosing patience or showing kindness when it’s not easy.
Whatever it is, do it and be faithful in the small things. God sees it, and He blesses faithfulness.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, I ask for your help that I may be faithful in the little things. Lord, help me to recognize that the little things matter in life. Show me what to do every day, so that I can walk in a way that would please you. I thank you for your faithfulness to me and for helping me be more like you! In Jesus' name, Amen.
