We all know what it feels like to make a promise and then have life get in the way. We may fully intend to keep our word, but circumstances change, plans fall through, or something beyond our control happens.
God's promises are different. When God says something, you can trust Him to keep His word. He isn't limited by circumstances, and He doesn't forget what He has promised.
For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us. 2 Corinthians 1:20
Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. Hebrews 10:23
Throughout the Bible, we see God's faithfulness again and again. He said something, and he did it. Where people fail and don’t follow through, they doubt or don’t trust, God remains faithful.
God asks us to live this life by faith; that means sometimes taking a step before we know where that step will lead. We may want to see the whole plan, but God often asks us to trust Him with the next step.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust isn't always easy, especially when we're waiting. Maybe you've been praying about something for a long time and wondering when God will answer. Maybe you've done your best to follow Him, but things haven't turned out the way you expected. It's easy during those times to wonder if God has forgotten about you.
He hasn't; waiting doesn't mean God is absent. Just because we can't see what He is doing doesn't mean He isn't working. Trusting God is an opportunity when you don’t understand all the details.
We can also fall into the trap of comparing our lives to someone else's. We see their answered prayer or their breakthrough and wonder why ours hasn't come yet. God's faithfulness isn't measured by how quickly He answers. His timing is not always our timing. The important thing to know is what to do while you're waiting. You have to keep trusting him and keep your heart open to him.
For no matter how many promises God has made, they are 'Yes' in Christ. 2 Corinthians 1:20
No matter what you're facing today, no matter how long you have been waiting, you have to hold on to what God has said.
Keep trusting when you don't understand. Keep praying when the answer hasn't come. Keep taking the next step, even when you can't see very far ahead.
You may not know what tomorrow holds, but you can trust the One who does. God is faithful. He hasn't forgotten you, and He will not fail you.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for being faithful and for keeping Your promises. Help me to trust You when I don't understand what You are doing or when I'm waiting for an answer. Give me the courage to keep following You, even when I can't see what is ahead. Help me remember that You are always with me and that I can trust Your timing. Strengthen my faith and help me hold on to Your promises. In Jesus' name I pray, amen.
