Psalm 28:7 - The Lord is my strength and my shield; My heart trusted in Him, and I am helped; Therefore my heart greatly rejoices, And with my song I will praise Him.

The bible tells us clearly that God is our strength and our shield. He strengthens us when we feel weak and he protects us when we face trouble. Knowing this truth, we can confidently say, “I am helped by the Lord.” Understanding this reality should stir our hearts with gratitude and praise.

It’s good to thank God for what he has already done in our lives. Praise also looks forward; it’s thanking him in advance for what we believe he will do. Faith looks back to remember his goodness, and it looks forward with expectation.

Today, you can declare with confidence that the Lord is your strength and shield. Whatever you’re walking through, you don’t walk alone. God has promised to strengthen you and stay with you every step of the way.

Hebrews 13:5-6 - “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” So we may boldly say: “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?”

When you begin to praise and thank God, something shifts. Gratitude brings power into your spirit. It lifts your heart, brightens your attitude, and restores hope. Even in difficult moments, thanking God can make a dark place feel lighter.

Anyone can sit and complain; it takes no effort at all to focus on what’s wrong, but that only leads to discouragement. The scripture shows us a better way: choose thanksgiving.

Psalm 106:1 - Praise the Lord! Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever.

1 Thessalonians 5:18 - In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

God doesn’t ask us to give thanks because he needs affirmation; he asks because it blesses us. Gratitude is an act of faith, a posture that says, “God, I trust you even in this situation.” Some days it’s easy to praise; other days it truly feels like a sacrifice.

He understands that, too: Hebrews 13:15 - Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name.

Sometimes praise is a sacrifice, especially when life is heavy or our emotions don’t line up. Those are the moments when giving thanks matters the most. Open your mouth today and thank God, thank Him for what he has done, thank him for what you need him to do, and praise him simply for who he is. The reward of a thankful heart is greater than you can measure.

As you pray, take a moment to list some specific things you are grateful for and give him praise.

Prayer - Heavenly Father, thank You that You promised to help me in my time of need. Thank you for every blessing in my life. Thank you that no matter what I face, you are my strength, my shield, and my helper. I give you thanks because you are worthy of all praise. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
